“The Irony of Im Yoona”
1. This dainty girl can eat a lot! To even beat and be aknowledged by the members especially her shikshin unnie.
2. Is she getting all that strength from eating all that food? I would have never thought she could be so strong. Braking six chopsticks in half a hard task for even males. Walking in a mudflat is hard enough but to pull Shin Bongsun and Kim Wonhee easily (when both of them together could only move her a yard). To finish a performance with a sprained ankle and come out smiling even as she limps. She is truly strong.
3. Korea’s ideal girl isn’t very girly at all. She’s a dork, a prankster, a choding. She messes with her unnies and dongsaeng (and they mess with her back). She isn’t even afraid to look like a fool; she just wants to have fun.
4. Korea’s ideal girl is from a not so ideal family. Yoona’s mum left her and her family when she was young. We don’t know the reason why, but she just left. Meaning Yoona is from a broken family, making her, in Korea’s society a misfit, a problem, and an automatic failure. But now, she has become Korea’s ideal girl. The kind of girl guys want to marry and other girls want to be like. She is living proof that Korea’s society can change. If not, then she is a wake up call to them. By just being here she’s telling Korea who are you to judge her by where she’s from? Who are you to say what she can or cannot be? Heck, who are you to judge anyone so easily?
5. Another ironic thing about her is her image, an image of perfection. Her name has become synonymous with the word “perfect”. People think she’s perfect, the ideal girl, a girl that’s always happy and never tired. What’s even more ironic is your last name “Im”, making you “Im Perfect”. And that’s who she really is, an imperfect girl. She herself knows that she isn’t perfect, in fact she knows exactly where her flaws are. She is a human with imperfections. She can get tired, upset, or mad like you and me. People might admire her for being seemingly perfect, but us fans admire her because she is still imperfect (Im Yoona) when she has to carry that image of perfection (Yoona).
